Protected Geographical Indication

In Cameroon is the Penja White Pepper Vine, one of the best peppers in the world, is highly appreciated by gourmets. Further north, in the mountainous tropical forests of Oku, a unique, almost white honey has been cultivated since the Middle Ages. These two products, with their fine and powerful taste, were among the first products in Africa to be labelled PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) in 2013, a first on the continent. Local products in Cameroon are thus gradually turning to this quality label, which allows them to conquer a world market that is sometimes difficult for countries in the South to access.
